Ramoni Otxarkoaga, empathic design experience

In relation to the project to transform the former Ramon y Cajal Centre in Otxarkoaga into the new Ramoni Centre, we address how an empathetic design process can create transformative solutions for people through co-creation and the integration of users in the design process.
The event will be contextualised within the Ramoni project, reflecting on the empathetic design process and including a practical workshop with young designers and users of the centre to put this methodology into practice in a real project and its subsequent implementation.
The week before the session on 25 November, there will be an online meeting with all those who will be participating in the process to explain the details of the challenge (including a ‘virtual visit’ to Ramoni to get to know the spaces and an explanation of the items in the IKEA catalogue that can be used for the equipment), the mechanics of the workshop, the composition of the groups (the number of which will depend on the number of confirmed participants), etc.
After BBDW25, a public presentation of all the proposals will be organised at the centre itself and the solution that will ultimately be adopted will be announced (it may be one of the proposals as it stands or a combination of several of them). Those who have participated in its realisation may be involved in its subsequent development and implementation by IKEA Barakaldo.
This is therefore a non-profit social project by IKEA Barakaldo, part of Bilbao Bizkaia Design Week 2025, with the theme “Biotik Design. From emergency to regeneration”. All participants in this activity will receive a corporate gift from IKEA.
