Heartbeat

‘'Heartbeat’’ is an interactive and participatory installation created in response to the challenge posed by the Bilbao City Hall's Health Department: to raise awareness about the vital importance of performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and to encourage people to overcome their fear of acting in an emergency.
Our heartbeat is not only a sign of life, but also an act of connection and collective responsibility. ‘'Heartbeat’’ reminds us that we all have the power to save lives in our hands.
Through participation, technology and emotion, this proposal turns your own pulse into a symbolic act of life and commitment.
There is a moment when everything stops. The heart falls silent, the lungs mute, and our little universe slowly fades away.
Then, some hands are placed on the chest and begin to mark an essential rhythm; the roll of a sacred drum that calls to life.
The person who revives, without knowing it, synchronises with the other. Their heartbeats intertwine, their breaths settle into the same rhythm.
Cardiopulmonary resuscitation is a choreography of urgency that can save lives.
