Territories for life - DISEÑATÓN

Students from a number of universities and design schools will come together at this event and, working together, come up with solutions to respond to the real challenges set out by 5 companies from the region from a design perspective.

The participating companies and organisations and the challenges posed are as follows:

IHOBE - a publicly-owned company coming under the Department of Industry, Energy Transition and Sustainability of the Basque Government.
Challenge posed: How can local governments facilitate the selection and purchase of repairable / repaired products for consumers?

GRUPO SSI - a cooperative whose goal is to provide a comprehensive and innovative response to the social needs of socially vulnerable and dependent people.
Challenge posed: Using design and communication and publicity strategies, how can we explain the SERPAC programme in order to build trust and generate desire among potential users of the service (individuals who experience an unwanted feeling of loneliness)?

IBILKARI - this initiative was created in 2009 with the aim of encouraging the responsible use of cars, created thanks to Eusko Car Sharing Elkartea, who began to promote car sharing in the Basque region.
Challenge posed: How can we adapt the “user experience” of Ibilkari Bilbo to create greater adherence and to build an active community committed to the sustainability of the project?

H-ENEA - the Living Lab, a non-profit organisation, which implements open innovation in the area of Economic Promotion (Cluster) in the domestic sector (Kitchens at Home, Healthy Home, Sustainable Home).
Challenge posed: How can we design an in-person/digital social network to encourage intergenerational connection based on interconnected kitchens, to help those individuals who do not know how to cook to learn to cook while also helping to reduce unwanted loneliness?  

GOIENER - a cooperative project for the generation and consumption of renewable energy aimed at recovering energy sovereignty.
Challenge posed: How can we guarantee the inclusion of the points of view and participation of individuals at risk of exclusion in the REC creation processes with the goal of making these communities more exclusive and plural?

At Diseñatón, the participants together search for solutions, imagine and construct prototypes, artefacts, services, proposals… to address the challenges proposed by the companies. The event will be streamlined by the Tipi Cooperative, and will have expert mentors offering support and advice to participants. 

Three “winners” will be selected at Diseñatón, in a participative manner and by popular vote. The proposals will be presented before a wide audience at the closing ceremony of the BBDW24.
